Dental Implants

Dental implants are designed to replace a missing tooth root, they are surgically positioned beneath the gums, and over a period of time they fuse with the bone, this is known as osseointegration.

Dental ImplantsThey are a threaded post made of titanium. They are designed to replace missing tooth roots. There are several different dental implant manufacturers, the main companies we work with are Nobel Biocare, Dentsply Sirona, Straumann and 3i.

Dental implant treatment is time consuming and the materials used can be expensive making implant treatment more expensive than some other forms of dental treatment forĀ  replacing missing teeth. A lot of time is taken in planning and informing the patient on the dental implant procedure.

Once the planning has been finished the dentist will insert the implant in the jaw bone the titanium then integrates with the bone. Once the titanium implant or implants are stable a range of crowns, bridges or over dentures will be constructed to replace the missing tooth/teeth. A range of materials are used to do this from acrylic/ composite to porcelain/ Zirconia.
